Installation & Maintenance
- Ensure the gasket surfaces are clean and dry.
- Remove the valve cover and old gasket following the applicable Continental maintenance procedure or an approved shop procedure.
- Clean all remaining gasket material from the valve cover and cylinder sealing surfaces.
- Install the new silicone gasket dry (do not use sealant).
- Reinstall the valve cover and torque the cover bolts to 25 in-lbs.
⚠️ Caution: Do not overtighten the cover bolts. Overtightening can cause the gasket to bulge or squeeze out.
After Installation
- After an engine run-up to takeoff power or after the first flight, check the cover bolt torque and re-torque to 20 in-lbs.
- During each annual inspection, verify the cover bolt torque and re-torque to 20 in-lbs if necessary.
