Installation & Maintenance

  1. Ensure the gasket surfaces are clean and dry.
  2. Remove the valve cover and old gasket following the applicable Continental maintenance procedure or an approved shop procedure.
  3. Clean all remaining gasket material from the valve cover and cylinder sealing surfaces.
  4. Install the new silicone gasket dry (do not use sealant).
  5. Reinstall the valve cover and torque the cover bolts to 25 in-lbs.

⚠️ Caution: Do not overtighten the cover bolts. Overtightening can cause the gasket to bulge or squeeze out.

After Installation

  • After an engine run-up to takeoff power or after the first flight, check the cover bolt torque and re-torque to 20 in-lbs.
  • During each annual inspection, verify the cover bolt torque and re-torque to 20 in-lbs if necessary.

Upgrade your engine with the SA632459-S Rocker Cover Silicone Gasket and enjoy a cleaner, longer-lasting seal with the reliability demanded by aviation professionals.
